So its all done, my graduation film ‘Left Kick’ is finished. Thanks to everyone who helped and poured months of time into the project. Due to NFTS rules I cant put the whole film online until its had a chance to go to the festivals but I will get a trailer together soon. Until then here’s a quick still.
Now, onward with the future

My pet distraction recently has been writing a Maya plugin called Mayaseed. Right now its a fairly simple translater to convert maya scenes into .appleseed scenes that the Appleseed renderer can play with. Appleseed is an open source renderer written by a good friend François Beaune and a brand new Alpha version should be available to download today with my exporter bundled in with it. Heres a little image made using the first, of many, versions of Mayaseed.

I’ve been doing some lighting and rendering today…

Part two of the ongoing experiment into comics, not entirely sure about the colouring, I tried a bunch of different styles and i think this worked best, admittedly it was a bit of an afterthought.
(looking at it the colours are doing some weird banding, I need to look into how to get rid of that, maybe I need to trick the compression with some noise or something)
